What a night at Hampden.
Like the rest of the country, I was glued to the match as Scotland delivered one of the most memorable performances we’ve seen in a generation – with a 4–2 win over Denmark that booked our place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Our first World Cup in 28 years, and a moment of huge pride for the entire nation.
To celebrate, I’ve lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating the team, recognising the outstanding goals and determination on the pitch, and paying tribute to Steve Clarke and his staff for leading Scotland back onto the world stage.
The motion also pays tribute to the incredible Tartan Army, whose passion lifts the team every time, and acknowledges the pride this achievement brings to communities across Clackmannanshire and Stirling – along with the essential work of our local clubs and volunteers who support grassroots football.
