On Saturday I stood with our community at the Rally to save Forth Valley College’s Alloa Campus.

In the week before, I met with the College’s Chair and Principal, and with the Cabinet Secretary for Education. I made it absolutely clear: the closure of Alloa Campus must be taken off the table — and I am pleased to hear that the Board meeting scheduled for 26 September to consider the proposal has been cancelled.

Students, staff, and the wider community all rely on the opportunities the campus provides — shutting it down would be a huge blow for Clackmannanshire.

I recognise the challenges the College is facing but it is up to the Board to find a sustainable solution that protects jobs and provision. What cannot be part of that solution is closing Alloa.

I’ll keep working with staff reps, students, and the community to make sure:

✅ The Campus stays open

✅ There is more course choice

✅ A sustainable future is secured for local learners

The Alloa Campus is too important to lose — and I’ll keep fighting every step of the way.
