I have today lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament expressing deep concern at proposals from Forth Valley College which could see the Alloa Campus close.
Access to further education is vital for young people, working adults and families in Clackmannanshire. With our population growing, limited public transport links and wider economic challenges facing the area – including the closure of Grangemouth – reducing provision here would be a major setback.
The motion acknowledges the contribution of staff and students at the Alloa Campus to our community and local economy, and highlights the stress and anxiety this uncertainty is causing for them and their families.
It calls on Forth Valley College and all partners to work together to secure a sustainable solution that safeguards jobs and protects the future of further education in Clackmannanshire.
