PLANS TO CELEBRATE SCOTLAND’S MOST SUCCESSFUL TENNIS PLAYER IN PARLIAMENT
The career of Scotland’s most successful tennis player, Andy Murray, has been celebrated by the local MSP for Murray’s hometown of Dunblane, Keith Brown.
Andy Murray’s professional career has lasted almost two decades, and has been marked by his outstanding achievements – three Grand Slams, 14 Masters 1000 titles, two Olympic Gold medals, leading his country to Davis Cup success and achieving the world No.1 ranking – cementing his place as Scotland’s most successful tennis player, and one of Scotland’s most successful sportsmen.
Mr. Brown has also recognised the impact that Andy Murray’s career has had on inspiring many young Scots to take up tennis, especially locally in Dunblane.
The MSP plans to soon introduce a motion to the Scottish Parliament to put Andy Murray’s achievements on record.
Commenting, MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane Keith Brown said:
“Andy Murray is Scotland’s most successful tennis player and has had an outstanding career. His achievements over the past two decades mark him down as a true tennis legend who has competed alongside some of the greatest players of all time.
“After a 19-year long career as a professional tennis player, Andy leaves behind him a legacy to be proud of, inspiring many young people across Scotland to get involved in tennis during that time.”
“The people of Scotland, and particularly Dunblane, are rightly proud of Andy for all his achievements and his incredible fighting spirit which he showed again this week in his final matches. I would like to thank him for all the incredible memories he has given us and wish him all the best for whatever comes next.”
“It’s absolutely right that Andy’s legacy should be put on record in the Scottish Parliament, and I’d urge all MSPs from all parties to sign the motion when it’s brought forward.”
