Scottish Power Energy Networks Net-Zero fund opens for applications: Keith Brown MSP encourages local organisations to apply.

Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown is encouraging local organisations looking to become more environmentally friendly to apply for the recently re-launched Scottish Power Energy Networks Net Zero Fund.

The £5 million fund aims to support vulnerable communities and ensure that no one is left behind in Scotland’s journey to net-zero. This fund directly assists organisations within Scottish Powers’ transmission areas across Central and Southern Scotland, facilitating their green ambitions and supporting efforts to decarbonize their operations. Beyond financial assistance, the fund also provides guidance and support to those organisations as they take significant steps towards decarbonization.

Since 2022, the fund has supported groups like Govan Heritage Trust, which received £150,000 to install a River Source Heat Pump at Govan Old Church, resulting in a 93% reduction in carbon emissions and a 20% saving in energy costs, or Food Train’s Stewartry branch, which was awarded over £100,000 to replace two vehicles with new electric models and install a charging point at their base in Dumfries and Galloway.

These examples demonstrate the diverse range of projects supported by the fund, and local MSP Keith Brown is encouraging all eligible projects in Clackmannanshire and Dunblane to seize this opportunity and apply.

Commenting, SNP MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Keith Brown, said:

“For Scotland to reach net-zero, we all need to play our part.”

“I know that many local organisations are keen to do so, but perhaps lack the money or the means required.”

“The Scottish Power net-zero fund presents a great opportunity for organisations in Clackmannanshire and Dunblane to begin to make these changes.”

“I encourage all eligible projects to seize this opportunity and apply, to support the national effort towards net-zero.”
