Brown hails “success for local residents” after over a decade of annual employment fairs
The MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Keith Brown, held his Annual Employment Fair at Alloa Town Hall on Friday the 2nd of February.
The event was the 9th of Mr. Brown’s Job Fairs, which have run every year since 2013 (except three years during the pandemic) – marking over a decade of Mr. Brown’s employment fairs in Alloa.
Residents from a wide cross–section of society attended the event, with local jobseekers, those seeking voluntary opportunities, and school pupils from many local schools attending.
The event featured a wide range of national and international organisations from across both Public and Private sectors – like Clackmannanshire Citizens Advice Bureau, Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils’, Diageo, the University of Stirling, Owens-Illionois glass manufacturers, Forth Valley College, Ceteris (Scotland) Ltd, the Carousel Training Centre and CERA care, among many others.
From the messages received by Mr. Browns’ office after the event, it was clear that the event had been a success. Both local residents and businesses reported new employees, new connections, and the beginnings of new opportunities for the future arising from the event.
The continued success of these events have made their mark on the local area – with some of the employers at this year’s event having themselves first been recruited at one of Mr. Brown’s job fairs.
SNP MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Keith Brown, said:
“It was great to host another successful job fair in Alloa last week.
“This year’s event was particularly busy with both attendees and potential employers – a great sign after returning last year after a brief COVID related hiatus. It is truly great to see ‘business as usual’ in full flow in Alloa this year.
“The highlight is always being in the room, talking to employers and residents about what opportunities are on offer and what they’re looking for – but a particular highlight this year was hearing from an employer who had themselves first been recruited at one of my job fairs around a decade ago.
“After the event I received many positive messages from the organisations in attendance, sharing their positive experience at the event – in some cases organising interviews there and then. I also received positive messages from residents who were in attendance – and I wish them all well for the future.”
