Keith Brown MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Clackmannanshire & Dunblane constituency has lodged a question asking the Scottish Government regarding complaints received about local bus services.
The question is scheduled to be answered during Portfolio Questions in the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 2 November 2023.
Commenting on the issue, Keith said:
“I have been contacted by many constituents concerned about the level of service on some bus routes in my constituency and I have lodged this question to give me the opportunity to raise those issues directly with wither the Transport Minister or the Cabinet Secretary.
“One constituent tells me that they feel forced to spend £28 on taxis, each way, to ensure that hospital appointments are met because they consider services 51 and 52 which run between Alloa and Stirling to be so unreliable and subject to short notice cancellations.
“These services used to run every twenty minutes; they are now meant to be every half hour, but often there is only one an hour.
“I am concerned that these services are running below the standards expected by the Traffic Commissioner, and I want to hear about what pressure can be brought to bear to ensure that the service is improved.”
