OCAL MSP SUPPORTS CONSTITUENTS REGARDING PRISON NOISE COMPLAINTS
The MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane Keith Brown has recently acted on concerns of local residents in the area surrounding Cornton Vale prison.
Since the start of September, residents living in the area next to the prison have been voicing their concerns about disruption coming from inside the prison grounds – which includes noise complaints and regular foul language being directed at members of the public at all hours of the day.
Since being made aware of the complaints in the area surrounding Cornton Vale, Keith has spoken to the Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Justice Angela Constance twice about these issues.
Keith has recently learned from the Cabinet Secretary that a robust action plan to respond to these concerns is now in place, and Keith has committed to continue to work alongside his constituents to monitor the implementation of this plan.
Commenting, SNP MSP Keith Brown said:
“I was first contacted by constituents living in the area around Cornton Vale around six weeks ago, and since then this issue has gotten significant local and national attention.
“As soon as I was made aware of the issues facing my constituents living in the area, I contacted the Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Justice Angela Constance.
“I’ve since spoken to the Cabinet Secretary twice about the noise issues in the area and I’ve been pleased to learn that a robust action plan has been put in place to address these concerns.
“I’ll work closely with my constituents on this issue, and I’ll continue to monitor the effectiveness of the implementation of these proposals in the interests of my constituents.”
