780 children in Clackmannanshire hit by cruel two child limit

Keith Brown MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Clackmannanshire & Dunblane constituency, has warned that damaging policies, introduced by the Tories and backed by Labour, are cutting the incomes of hundreds of working families in his constituency after new analysis revealed that 780 children across the Clackmannanshire Council area are being impacted by the two child benefit cap.

Speaking this afternoon, Keith said:

“It is quite shocking just how much of an impact these damaging Westminster policies are having in cutting the incomes of many families across my Clackmannanshire & Dunblane constituency, families who are struggling to make ends meet.

“The revelation that 780 children in Clackmannanshire – and a similar number across the Stirling Council area – are being harmed by the Tory’s cruel two child limit policy is shameful.  Westminster actions undermining, at every step, the SNP Government’s national mission to eradicate child poverty.

“In the Scottish Parliament this week the SNP backed a motion calling out cruel Westminster welfare policies. Meanwhile, Labour MSPs sat on their hands and failed to oppose a policy that is harming hundreds of children here in Clackmannanshire & Dunblane.

“Families across my constituency are suffering like never before – and yet Labour, under orders from their London bosses, are happy to see this continue.  The SNP, on the other hand, will continue to stand up against harmful Westminster policies at every opportunity.”
