Keith Brown MSP recently held a street surgery in Bridge of Allan. While there, several residents raised concerns about speeding in the town – in particular on Henderson Street – the main thoroughfare through the town.
It was flagged to Keith that noise and air pollution coming from vehicles speeding through the town is also a significant concern – with some residents reporting that heavy vehicles were causing their buildings to shake.
Following the street surgery, Keith wrote to Stirling Council with the concerns of the residents effected by these issues.
In the letter, Keith asks Stirling Council for clarity on the upgrading and implementation of traffic calming measures, which some residents believe are due to be undertaken along Henderson Street soon.
Keith also asked Stirling Council to consider a pedestrian crossing outside Museum Hall – it was pointed out by members of the public that this would be an ideal spot for a pedestrian crossing.
Keith has stressed that the residents of Bridge of Allan are keen to see action undertaken on this soon – asking Stirling Council to continue to monitor this situation on behalf of the people of Bridge of Allan.
Commenting, Keith Brown MSP said:
“At my recent street surgery in Bridge of Allan it was highlighted to me that speeding, noise pollution and air pollution is a significant concern for residents of the town – particularly those who live on Henderson Street, the main thoroughfare through the town.
“I’ve taken these concerns to Stirling Council today, asking them to clarify what traffic calming measures are coming to Bridge of Allan, to consider putting a pedestrian crossing outside Museum Hall, and to monitor the situation closely in order to ensure that both drivers and the people of Bridge of Allan are kept safe, and that pollution of all kinds is kept to a minimum.
“I look forward to the progress that is made on this important issue.”
